Description of a well made thick film stained correctly with Giemsa stain to identify malarial parasites. Compare with other Plasmodium spp. (research) and Plasmodium vivax (research)slides which have been prepared using different amounts of blood and different staining methods to determine the best method to diagnose the parasite infection. It is best to make the smears from native blood (ie. without anti-coagulant) as anticoagulant can distort the parasites.
